Green Day – August 1, 2011

On Monday, August 1st, we will dedicate the day to promoting our green initiatives and that of community and local not-for-profit organizations doing work to preserve the environment. We will host various panel discussions, have merchants that focus on sustainable and green products located at our Green Village, displays, food demonstrations, and activities for children. Experts will lead discussion on the emerging issues and provide tips to adopt in your day to day life.

Panel Discussion – Small Acts, Big Impact

Ital Living and Food Justice – the new food revolution and the growing demand for local food and what it takes to build healthy local food systems.
The Green Job Market – how to be part of the growing Green Job market and what are the skill sets required. Learn about the emerging green economy and what you can do to participate and build skills that are transferable to green jobs.

Green Village

This is an area of our Queens Park location that will be dedicated to local green and sustainable merchants, providing locally sourced foods, household items and creative products for your consumption, including the Irie Farmers’ Market. In addition, local environment not-for-profits and associations will be available to provide information on how to participate in the green movement and volunteer opportunities that exist for the whole family in conservation work.
