Many are now discovering the music of this young soon to be chart topper, J. Melody, the work of a musical genius. By writing R&B ballads that paint pictures with every breath, it is as if he was making music back when R&B reached it’s pinnacle in the late 80′s and early to mid 90′s. Inspired by the likes of R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Maxwell, Babyface, Luther Vandross and Musiq Soulchild, J. Melody has encompassed generations of talented musicians that have helped shape his sound. At the early age of 3, his mother knew he needed to be in the spotlight. Singing in front of family members, and breaking out mimicking the smooth grooves of Michael Jackson, Melody’s talent was always shining.
Although musically gifted, Melody spent to focus of his early teens on his second love, athletics. In 2005, he obtained the highest academic standing in his high school English course, and found a new love in the sport of High Jump. In less than a year, J. Melody solidified his position as being one of Canada’s top contenders as a junior, and in 2006 would go on to place second in the nationals. Although his career in high jump was looking promising, Melody’s true passion lead him to pursue his first love: Music.
