Artist’s statement:
“I am a visual artist whose paintings depict an African Canadian experience. My current works include expressions of post-colonial life and traditions, to an urban struggle. Vibrant colours and textures are used to create an atmosphere of intensity with an overall feeling of complexity. I am a passionate supporter of Black self-organization and strongly believe in the function of art, which directly serves and relates to my community. I use art as a tool to connect, mobilize, expose and create dialogue which can lead to empowerment. I am inspired by life experiences, trials and triumphs which have all become an eternal quest to comprehend life as it relates to art. I have been working as an artist for 17 years”
Exhibit will be on display at Toronto City Hall Rotunda July 29th to August 1st, 7:30am to 9:30pm.
